DESIGNED WITH FAMILIES IN MIND “The whole intention of building our home was to have a place where we could bring family and friends,” Ames says. They asked themselves questions: What if they brought Camille’s entire family? What if they brought his family, too, along with a couple of friends? How would Camille’s parents, who have some disabilities, navigate? Their floor plans reflected all of those concerns, including ramp access to the front door and 30-inch doorways helpful for walkers and wheelchairs. Owners of Austin vacation-rental company STR Management, the couple has experience knowing how to appeal to fellow vacationers. They drew on that expertise and

on personal travel experiences for their home’s plans and details, like a coffee bar near a first-floor doorway so guests don’t have to return to the main kitchen for java on their way out and little luxuries like heated bathroom tile floors.
