to know people who love the coast as much as you do. Here’s a look at the fellowship and fun that our village offers, this time at a classic shrimp boil hosted by Sage Beach Carts. This company provides easy, on- site access to everyone’s favorite mode of transportation on the island–golf carts, or beach buggies. And it knows how to throw a good, old-fashioned shrimp boil too. Almost 300 owners mingled on the Great Lawn, enjoying delicious food and great live music from Kevin Kurtz.

The Great Lawn makes a grand landscape for social events at Cinnamon Shore North. From Smore’s Nights around the fire pit to Market Days and special concerts, this green space, lined with beautiful vacation homes, makes a natural gathering place.

The shrimp boil saw old and new friends meet up, mix, and mingle—and other homeowner events are in the works for Columbus Day Weekend and the holidays. We’ve welcomed new neighbors to the Cinnamon Shore family, including many first-time buyers at Cinnamon Shore South.

The sunset hour made the perfect time to get together. Sage Carts provided corn hole, tunes by Kevin Kurtz, and classic Lowcountry fare—the famous boil with shrimp, corn and sausage that originated in the Sea Islands along the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina.

T hrillest describes Mustang Island, where Cinnamon Shore graces the outskirts of Port Aransas, as “a haven of seafood restaurants, margaritas, beachside festivals, and Easter egg-colored cottages.” Of all the places a travel writer could dine in Port A, Matt only names our on-site bistro, Lisabella’s, calling it a “beachy-chic restaurant” in the “bougie” community of Cinnamon Shore: “ Just about every place on the island

offers top-tier fish and seafood, perhaps best exemplified by Lisabella’s. Here you can pair on-trend espresso martinis with cheesy baked oysters, pancetta-wrapped shrimp, and something called Mermaid Soup: a curried medley of lobster-coconut broth and shrimp— and mercifully, no mermaids.” The writer also nails the description of our beloved Port Aransas, calling it “surprisingly happening and delightfully quirky.” Read more.

TRAVEL INFLUENCER VISITS CINNAMON SHORE T he founder of the Dame Traveler Instagram account visited last spring, introducing our Gulf-side village to her half a million followers! Author and photographer Nastasia Yakoub established an online community that follows her treks around the globe and encourages women to travel fearlessly. Her hardcover book Dame Traveler: Live the Spirit of Adventure (Penguin Random House, 2020) showcases photos and travel tips. When she visited Cinnamon Shore, she

posted scenic images of a shore bird at the Gulf’s edge and evocative palmetto shadows stamped against her vacation rental home, capturing her time at Cinnamon Shore—and its serenity. Read more.

Making moves A SECOND DUNE CROSSOVER IS UNDER WAY AT CINNAMON SHORE SOUTH! Our sturdy dune crossovers give private access to and from the beautiful beachfront. In addition to the existing crossover in Phase 1 at South, the southernmost crossover will be complete by year’s end. Watch for progress on a third dune crossover that will thread between Phases 5 and 6.

Dog Days of SUMMER O ur pet-friendly rentals make it easy to bring your dog to the beach! One of the most popular searches on our web site is for pet-friendly vacation rentals! We have many homes and condos that welcome furry friends. Our dog park facilitates play time. And you’ll pass a lot of pets on leashes

CONSIDER A DOGGIE LIFE VEST. Not every dog needs a flotation device, but some breeds are less comfortable around the water than others. Vests sell for around $25, and brands include Kurgo, Paws Aboard, and Petsaver.

HELP THEM AVOID DRINKING SALTWATER. Bring a portable doggie bowl or canteen just for your pet so he's not as tempted to lap at the surf.

GIVE A RINSE AFTER A ROMP IN THE GULF. Rinse a dog's coat with fresh water after a dip in the salty Gulf, as it can be harsh on the pet's fur. At our Dune Dogs Playground, our pet wash makes it easy! MAKE ROOM UNDER THE UMBRELLA. Dogs get hot, too, and some can even get sunburned. Dogs with white fur are more susceptible to sunburn, but all dogs have vulnerable areas. T ricia Dabney created beautiful beach home interiors for the Jouffray family at Cinnamon Shore North five years ago. As they were planning for a new one at Cinnamon Shore South, they turned to Tricia with a very specific vision: a classic East Coast beach home blended with Chinoiserie. Now complete, the home showcases nautical touches mixed with blue- and-white ceramics, Chinese-inspired figurines, and other Far East influences. “I couldn’t be more proud of how it all turned out,” Tricia says, adding that the details contribute to the overall concept.

All in the details From a model ship in a geometric glass cover to custom Roman shades with accent banding and coordinating stool slipcovers, everything was planned. Roman shades made with a “sweet sailboat fabric” match an enlarged version of the design made into lumbar pillows on the bunks. And for the open book shelves, vintage books add the air of nostalgia. Making a grand entrance The show-stopping, three-story wooden staircase with judge’s paneling is a highlight. “Initially, the home plan called for vinyl plank treads,” Tricia says, “but we all agreed that the focal point as you walk in called for a grand, gorgeous look—and that we got!” She commends the builder for crafting such a stunning staircase, and for the craftsmanship that went into every detail put into this home. “ My client's vision led to one of the most beautiful homes I will ever get to be a part of creating, ” Tricia says.

G uests love to laze away the days on the Cinnamon Shore beachfront and at our distinctive pools. But if the idea of boating over to an uninhabited, undeveloped isle appeals to your inner beachcomber, San José Island, a.k.a. St. Jo, is just a 10-minute ferry ride from Port A. “I take my kids out there all the time,” says Brianna Pool, who works at Fisherman’s Wharf. “It’s the most natural beach

in Texas. It’s untouched.” Cinnamon Shore homeowner Kate Burkhart of Grapevine, Texas, says going to St. Jo is one of her family’s favorite things to do. When they’re not enjoying their new beach home at Cinnamon Shore South, they may take the ferry over or even their own boat. “It’s a really cool spot,” Kate says. “The water is amazing…very clear due to no vehicle access.”

EXPLORING ST JO

HOW TO GET THERE: A passenger ferry called The Jetty Boat takes you from Fisherman’s Wharf in downtown Port A. No reservations necessary. Private boats can also motor over. Ferry Departure Times for Summer: Starting at 6:30 a.m. and then almost every hour on the hour until 4 p.m. See schedule/ticket info. WHAT TO DO: From surf casting to dropping a line into the ship channel from the north jetty, the fishing’s a big draw for some. “My husband and son swear the fishing is better here,” Kate says. Others bring fishing nets and sand pails for shell hunting. “The shells are amazing,” Kate says. HOW LONG TO STAY: Some stay an hour or two, while others spend the day. But be warned: There are no bathroom facilities, and wildlife like coyotes and rattlesnakes do roam. WHERE TO EXPLORE: 21 miles of unspoiled beachfront. Privately owned, the island welcomes the public to explore the beaches below the high tide line—prime real estate for beachcombers, shell seekers, and fishers. WHEN YOU’RE DONE: The ferry returns you to civilization—and your comfortable vacation rental or beach home at Cinnamon Shore!
